First and foremost, there was no “Vibe Coding” used on this website. This website was hand-made by Web Assist to showcase our services.

We are always in control of the code and understand the code, including how to correctly plan, engineer and develop the code, which is the case for this digital property (webassist.africa).

We also ensure best practices are followed and adhered to and no shortcuts taken. This means clean code output on the front-end and lightweight pages resulting in blazing fast page loading times, whether on mobile devices, tablets, notebooks or desktops.

No, we don’t hate Ai. Ai is a tool that if used responsibly can be of great benefit.

If and when Ai is used by us, it’s ALWAYS responsibly utilised, most often as a time-saving measure e.g. Ai is very effective at doing repetitive tasks like formatting JSON, preparing html lists, stripping selectors and the like. Ai is NEVER used to do things that we cannot already do ourselves and understand completely from top to bottom. In other words, if something goes wrong, there is chaos as the person building with Ai without having an understanding of the codebase, cannot find and fix the issue and is then in prompt-hell trying to get Ai to fix diagnose and fix the issue.

With our approach, if something breaks, we can dive in and fix it because we understand the codebase. This is an extremely important point that needs reiteration.

As Ai explodes, Ai nightmares are already a thing, most often due to Vibe Coding and what’s known as “Ai slop” flooding the internet.

“Ai bro’s” are creating apps and websites using Ai agents, they are becoming prompt specialists while losing their skills (those who even had skills to start with), in essence becoming dumber the more they rely on Ai. Because they didn’t actually build the app, but it was built by Ai, and they don’t understand how it was built, when something goes wrong, they don’t have the skills to fix the issue. This is a ticking time-bomb. Things get very nasty quickly and ultimately you the business owner loses.

We absolutely decry this approach. We believe in responsible use of Ai where WE remain in full control of the website, where we understand it deeply and can fix bugs, make changes, make iterations and scale responsibly. This brings consistency and reliability to the service you receive and definitely peace of mind.
